Jaxson and Tony went back to Camp Morrison for the third year in a row.
The boys being taught how to repel.
Carter and Jaxson learning how to repel and belay. They ended up repelling down a 240 ft cliff so it was good that they practiced!
They hiked 2 hard steep miles.
The leaders didn't have to join the boys on the backpacking trip but Tony did anyway. It turned out to be a good thing because he was able to bring the boys back that night.
I sure love these two!
Can you find the boys in the boulders?
Seriously, Jaxson is so lucky to have such fun and great friends!
No wonder he was so filthy when he got home - that is one dusty trail!
Jaxson said the food was bad as usual - luckily for Jaxson he was invited to join some of the boys and their dads and Ice Cream Alley and Pancake House!
They also learned how to atlatl - an ancient hunting weapon. Jaxson said it was kind of weird and nobody was very good at it.
He said the shotgun shooting was a lot more fun.
They did daily group building activities to try to earn the "spirit stick."
Jaxson thought the highlight of the trip was the cliff repel - he was the first to go!
He said the scariest part was leaning out over the cliff backwards and the instructor kept telling him to lean back farther.
He had to really trust in the rope and the belayer below him!
He did awesome!
