Back to School 2015

This back-to-school year was a little different than others lately.  We put our kids in a "lottery" for Compass Charter School earlier in the year.  It is a school for high achieving kids that we have heard great things about.  Carson got in at the lottery and Kaisa was 2nd on the waiting list.  We found out about halfway through the summer that Kaisa also got in to Compass.  We told all of the kids that we wanted it to be their decision.  We knew it would be quite a bit harder than their other school and we wanted them to take some responsibility for the decision.  Carson was in as soon as he found out - he was excited to be with his friend Logan.  Kaisa warmed up to the idea as the school year approached - I think she was much more nervous about going to huge Lake Hazel Middle School than to try Compass.  She decided to go as well.

It was impossible to get a good picture of this little jokester!

He's a goof but we sure love him!

Kaisa on the other hand is really easy to get a good pic…

Jaxson was on his Yellowstone trip with Tony when Compass notified us that he was in - the Friday before school started!  I never thought he would go for it and I couldn't reach him by phone until they were on their way home which also happened to be the day before Compass started.  Jaxson made a list of pros and cons to both schools on his way home from Yellowstone and informed us that he would try Compass.  He said he was up for a challenge.  This is the one picture I was able to grab of him on his way out the door!
