Speaking of scouting, Tony and Jaxson had the privilege (?) to go on Klondike this year. Fortunately, it has been unseasonably warm! Unfortunately the snow was more slush than anything because it has been unseasonably warm! This picture of camping in the mud/slush/snow looks about like what I imagine misery might look like:
But they are boys and thought it all a grand adventure. It also ended up pouring rain on them. See the lovely river outside their tent? That's what memories are made of….
I'm told their breakfast was one of the best ever though! Carter made some awesome french toast and Jaxson has definitely mastered the art of bacon making!
They were able to do several skills labs, including this one where they used slingshots.
They also learned survival techniques for camping in the cold and did an obstacle course. Their course was actually the fastest of the whole year but they got docked because they ran over one of their team mates and then left him. Poor Dylan!
The main event was the race of course! Our boys came in second for the race and third over all for the whole Klondike, which was pretty impressive considering they were all 12 and 13 years old and competing with troops of 16 and 17 year olds.

This is my favorite picture! These are some awesome young men who really try hard and work well together. I'm so thankful Jaxson is a part of this group!
