Elementary Graduate!

Well, it is official.  Jaxson is going into middle school.  I hate it.  I don't want him to grow up!!!  I'm not ready to be the mom of a middle schooler and I feel totally unprepared for what is ahead.  Jaxson's years in elementary school went by sooooo fast.  I remember dropping him off at Edgerton for Kindergarten last week, I swear.  Jaxson absolutely loved Edgerton Elementary and hated leaving it (his favorite teacher there was Mr. Keller).  But Mary McPherson was a great school to move into.  Though small (only 400 kids compared to Edgerton's 750) and old, it made up for newness with a lot of heart.  His teachers and principal are fantastic and the kids are great too.  Jaxson's classroom this year was one of 5 in the district to be chosen to be a 'classroom of the future'.  Each of the students had their own iPad, they had a Promethian table and a green screen too and lots of other things.  It was pretty impressive and Jaxson loved the new technology.

At his graduation, they gave honors to 2 students from each of the 3 fifth grade classes who excelled in PE and Jaxson received that honor in his class.   He also earned the Presidential Award for high academic achievement.  He graduated with about 15 of his good friends, so he was in great company.   Following the ceremony, all of the 5th graders were invited to a party at the Morgan's home where they all played (and I helped chaperone) for almost 3 hours.  Jaxson had a blast.  We were so proud of him!  I love that he has a great attitude and always tries his best and I absolutely love the young man he is becoming.  Maybe middle school won't be so bad after all.
